Business management training: finance for SME leaders
You have created or taken over a company. You know how to run it, but when your banker asks for a 3-year plan, when an investor wants to know your valuation, or when your accountant talks about working capital requirement, you would like to speak the same language as them. Sagora gives you that language, with no academic detours.
Which business management training for an SME leader?
Sagora trains SME leaders in the financial side of business management: reading their accounts, steering cash, building a budget and a financial plan, valuing their company and preparing discussions with the bank or investors. The programmes are taken in modules of 2 to 3 days, in central Brussels and in Luxembourg, in French, or in-house at your premises. They are designed and led by professors from Solvay Brussels School (ULB) and corporate finance practitioners.
What our courses cover
- Reading and interpreting the annual accounts: balance sheet, income statement, ratios.
- Steering cash and the working capital requirement.
- Building a budget and a three-year financial plan.
- Valuing your company before a sale, a fundraising or a new partner.
- Preparing a financing file and talking to the bank.
Our courses do not cover the other areas of management (marketing, human resources, law): they focus on corporate finance.
Programmes, prices and upcoming dates
Public prices per participant, excluding VAT, identical in Brussels and Luxembourg. Modules of Blocs A and B can also be taken individually; for in-house training, the price is quoted on request.
What you want to solve
- Build a credible financial business plan that I can defend before a bank or an investor
- Anticipate my cash needs 6 to 12 months ahead rather than being at the mercy of month-end
- Put a defensible value on my company, before fundraising, a sale or a partner coming on board
What you walk away with
- A 3-year financial plan that speaks to finance professionals (P&L, cash flow, forecast balance sheet, consistent with one another)
- A reading of your BFR and a rolling cash plan: the number one tool to never be caught out by a nasty surprise
- An argued valuation range: discounted cash flows (DCF) with explicit assumptions, market multiples as a consistency check

Frequently asked questions
Do I need prior knowledge of finance?
Not for Bloc A, which starts from the basics: reading a balance sheet, understanding cash, building a budget. Bloc B, devoted to valuing projects and companies, assumes a command of Bloc A.
How does it differ from a general management course?
A general management course skims marketing, human resources, law and finance. Sagora's courses focus on corporate finance and cover it in depth, on real cases and real accounts, so that you leave with tools you can use in your company.
Is a catalog program or a tailor-made one better for an SME?
Both work. Part A (Diagnosis, 7 days spread out) provides a solid skills upgrade for the leader themselves. To train several people internally (CFO + manager + partner), a tailor-made program on your premises is generally more cost-effective and better anchored in your sector context.
Is it compatible with an executive's schedule?
The catalog format is spread over several weeks precisely to allow a leader to keep running their company. For very constrained schedules, the tailor-made option can be delivered in short sessions (half-days) over a quarter.
Is there post-training support to apply it to my company?
Sagora offers a Consulting service (CFO-as-a-service, strategic support) that can extend the training to concrete cases: financial diagnosis, business plan, valuation. Training and advisory are separate but connected.
