Benjamin Lorent

Professor of finance, CEO of Solvay Lifelong Learning

Benjamin Lorent is a professor of finance and financial accounting at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (ULB) and Chief Executive Officer of Solvay Lifelong Learning, the school’s executive education arm. He is also Academic Director of the Advanced Master in Financial Markets and teaches at several universities in Belgium and France. Holder of a PhD in finance and a master’s degree in actuarial science, he is a research fellow at the Centre Emile Bernheim. His work focuses on the prudential regulation of the insurance sector, solvency (Solvency II) and the links between the banking and insurance sectors; it has notably been published in the Brussels Economic Review. Alongside his academic roles, he works as a consultant in corporate finance, insurance regulation and risk management. At Sagora, he teaches the modules on management control and investment decisions of the Finance for managers programme, with the same standard he applies in his executive programmes at Solvay: linking every analytical tool to a concrete management decision.
