Objectives training
The objective of this module “ Management Control & Cost Analysis ” of the “ Finance for managers ” program is to understand the link between costs and company strategy and control your costs effectively.. The course will present the classic notions of cost control by showing how managers and executives use real information in the business world. At the end of this module, the participant will be able to:
- Understand the objectives and added value of management accounting and
- control of the activity and the link with the company’s strategy
- Define the different categories in costs in a company
- Determine financial profitability by type of activities or products sold by the company
- Measure the cost of a product or any activity of a company: cost of developing, producing, buying, selling, distributing, etc.
- Link the level of activity of the company with the amount of costs 2
- Understand the impact of costs on pricing policy, investment decisions, value creation or product outsourcing policy
- Master budgeting, dashboards and financial planning tools
Educational approach
The module will illustrate all the theoretical concepts seen during the course through real examples and practical cases. Continuous interaction with participants as well as the sharing of their experience will be highlighted. Finally, we will use Excel to apply the different tools.

Benjamin LORENT, Doctor in management sciences, is Professor of Finance and Accounting at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (Université Libre de Bruxelles), the University of Mons, the University of Rouen and the University of Toulon (France).
He also holds a master’s degree in actuarial sciences (ULB).
Benjamin teaches finance, accounting and insurance to executives in continuing education programs in Solvay, Switzerland and Vietnam and to master’s/bachelor’s students.
He is also a corporate finance consultant and academic director of the Advanced Master in Financial Markets (AMFM, Solvay).
